Starting A Business with Little Budget
Many people hold the desire to start a business with little money. They hope to leave the traditional work force and become an entrepreneur. Double-check applicable business laws in your county before investing the time and money in a new business. Register your new company's name and obtain a local business license from the Department of Revenue in your county. Get bonded and obtain liability insurance if you will be working inside someone's home. Some good businesses to start with little money include: residential house cleaning, an eBay business and tutoring.
Residential House Cleaning Business
Residential house cleaning is a good business to start with little money. You will need cleaning rags, sponges, cleaning gloves, basic cleaning agents, a broom, dustpan, vacuum cleaner, carrying tray for the supplies, and trash bags. Assuming you already own a vacuum cleaner, the start-up cost for this business is around $100.
Start small. Clean homes for neighbors, friends and relatives. Get a letter of recommendation from each and use as these as referrals to gain new clients. Advertise with fliers and in the local paper. Take before and after cleaning pictures of different rooms. Place these in a photo album to show to potential customers.
eBay Auction Business
Start an eBay auction business with approximately $30 to $40. You will need Internet access, an eBay account, a separate email for eBay mail to keep your business mail separate from personal mail, items to sell and a camera to photograph items to place in auction listings. Select sale items from around your home. Other places to find items to sell include: yard sales, second-hand shops, wholesale suppliers and flea markets. Make items to sell if you are good at crafts. After setting up an eBay account, review eBay requirements for conducting business on the site. Bid on products or use the Buy It Now feature to purchase one to three inexpensive items. Leave feedback for the seller and request buyer feedback. A few feedbacks will make it easier to sell items on eBay.
Teach students of all ages with a tutoring business in your field of skill. Items needed include: pencils, paper, computer software on the subject, reference books, reference materials and a work area. Select one to three subject areas to tutor. Choose the level where you can provide tutoring, such as middle school, high school, college or advanced. Advertise in your local newspaper as well as on educational and public library bulletin boards. Review material the student currently has and provide instruction with additional information during the tutoring session. Schedule additional sessions before the student leaves.
